One of my must-haves when in Taiwan is 臭豆腐 (stinky tofu), and we were bound to find some at the night market. I don't know if Zhiwei knew of this place, 正老牌麵線糊 ("Authentic Old-fashioned Rice Noodle Soup"), from a previous visit, or if he just knew the night market would have a place to get 臭豆腐, but we went in and ordered some (NT$70, about $2.20, per order), hoping it was good. Over the years, my sense of smell and sense of taste have declined; I didn't find this 臭豆腐 very stinky (I couldn't smell the 臭豆腐 frying in the oil like I remember). The texture, a crunchy outside and soft, smooth inside, a very important part of the dish, was excellent, the standard accompanying pickled cabbage was okay, but I missed the stinky smell and distinctive taste. I couldn't really judge if it was good or bad 臭豆腐; I guess I sort of enjoyed it.

When we were done, we walked along 忠孝路 checking out the various night market offerings. The line at this 地瓜球 (sweet potato balls) and 地瓜薯條 (sweet potato fries) stand was really long; they must've been good, but we weren't about to wait that long.

When we came across this 豆花 (bean jello) stand, Mei-O decided she wanted to try some (it's one of her favorite Taiwanese treats), so we went in and ordered some. The little white pieces are the 豆花; Mei-O said there wasn't enough of them. Instead it was full of yam and taro root balls!

We kept walking back to Zhiwei's car, passing various food stands, until we came here. The car was parked nearby, we all got in, and Zhiwei drove us back to the hotel where, being exhausted after a very long day, we must've just crashed, since I have no more pictures from today.
