We saw these as we walked through the 忠孝路觀光夜市 night market. The sign on the one in the lower left corner reads, "Includes Remote Control (Operated by Adults) For Sale."

This is Lisa. She's the restaurant manager at the Zhongke Hotel. We have known her since we first started staying there in 2013. During our visit to Taiwan during spring break in 2017, back when Lisa was just a bus girl clearing tables during morning breakfast service, we had Mei-O's mom join us for breakfast at the hotel one morning. Lisa was really nice to her, holding her to steady her as she went to get her food, and Mei-O never forgot how impressed her mom was with Lisa's kindness. We were honestly surprised to see her still working here, but she obviously worked her way up to a higher position. After Mei-O gave her a hongbao for her kids yesterday, Lisa brought her a gift today, a pack of colorful post cards that she made herself. Mei-O wanted to get this picture with her.

Mingqi gave me this pair of Ray-bans. They're his old Air Force sunglasses from over 50 years ago which he says he's almost never worn since his Air Force days. We're going out with him today, so I thought I'd wear them. They're pretty heavy and a little big for my face, so I'm not sure I'll wear them too often.

At the 忠孝路觀光夜市 night market, Zhiwei ordered this thing, a Taiwanese steamed bun sandwich filled with braised pork belly, pickled mustard greens, cilantro, and crushed peanuts, resembling a "tiger biting a pig" (虎咬猪, also called a 割包).

Approximate gas prices while we were there. I say "approximate", since the value of the Taiwan dollar fluctuated every day. I'm guessing the 92, 95, and 98 are octane levels, or something similar in Taiwan. 95 at NT$33.9 per liter ($1.08) comes out to about $4.08 per gallon, not too bad.

Four small statues of young novice monks can be found at the base of the steps leading to the Great Buddha on 八卦山 in 彰化, each embodying one of the four seasons: spring plowing (春耕, above), summer weeding (夏耘), autumn harvesting (秋收), and winter storage (冬藏). From the internet: "Together, they serve as a backdrop to the vision of the Buddha’s boundless compassion: a world where all sentient beings are blessed with abundance, prosperity, peace, and harmony."
